The Library

Each site has its own Library window. The Library shows every video in the bucket of the site. The title of the window is the name of the site, and under it is the address of the player pages.

The Library window in the Tiles view

The name of a site is the title of its home page, or its page hostname when the home page has no title.

Views and order

  • View: List shows a row for each video, with its folder, the date of its first publish, its duration, its size and its reference. Tiles shows large posters.
  • Sort By: Newest First, Oldest First or Title. The title order ignores case and accents, and it sorts numbers by value, so “Part 2” comes before “Part 10”. Kitset saves your choice.

Search and filter

The search field finds text in the title, the folder name or the reference of each video. It ignores case and accents.

The Filter menu has three sections. The choices of all three sections apply together, and with the search.

Section Choices
Visibility All Videos, Public, Unlisted
Audio Loudness All Levels, Original Level, Web (−14 LUFS), Broadcast (−24 LUFS)
Resolution All Resolutions, 2160p, 1080p, 720p, 480p, 360p

The resolution of a video is the size of its largest rendition. A wide video of 1920 × 800 and a portrait video of 1080 × 1920 are both 1080p. See Video quality.

The icon of the menu is filled while a filter is on.

Badges

Badge Meaning
Unlisted icon (an eye with a line through it) The video is unlisted. See Public or unlisted.
Incomplete The folder has no playlist, so the video cannot play. A publish probably stopped before it was complete. You can delete the folder.
No details The folder has no details file. It can come from the first version of Kitset. Edit it to add a title.
Unreadable Kitset cannot read the details of the video, for example because a newer version of Kitset wrote them.

Select and open

  • Click a video to select it. ⌘-click adds a video to the selection or removes it, and ⇧-click selects a range. ⌘A selects all the videos.
  • Double-click a video to open its edit window. See Changing a video.
  • With two or more videos selected, a bar at the bottom changes them all. See Change several videos.

Each video has a menu: right-click it, or click the … button of its row.

Item What it does
Open Page Opens the player page in your browser.
Copy Page URL Copies the address of the player page.
Copy Media URL Copies the address of the folder of the video on the media hostname. See The addresses of the files.
Copy Embed Code Copies the HTML that shows the video on another website. See Embed a video.
Edit… Opens the edit window.
Change Poster Choose Frame… opens the edit window. Use Image… uploads an image file as the poster at once.
Replace Video… Gives the video a new file and keeps its link. See Replace a video.
Delete… Deletes every file of the video.

Refresh

Kitset reads the bucket when the Library opens. At the start, it shows the list from its last read at once, then it updates the list. Click Refresh (⌘R) to read the bucket again, for example after a change from another Mac.

A large site takes longer to read. The bar at the bottom shows the count while Kitset reads.

The bar at the bottom

The bar shows the state of the current publish: its stage and its percent, a poster that waits for review, or the result. Upload… opens the Upload window, and Show brings it to the front.

Export a list of the videos

Choose File ▸ Export CSV…, then choose where to save the file. Kitset reads the bucket again, then writes a row for each complete video. The file ignores the search, the filter and the order of the window.

The file is UTF-8 text. Numbers and Excel can open it. A later version of Kitset adds new columns at the end, so a program that reads the columns by their position still works.

The CSV file is also a valid spreadsheet for a bulk re-import.
