Licences and the trial
Kitset is free to try. A licence removes the limit of the trial. Every licence has every feature.
The trial
Without a licence, each site can have up to 5 videos. When a site has 5 complete videos, Kitset does not publish a new video to it. Delete a video to make room for another, or enter a licence.
The limit applies only to new videos. In the trial, you can still:
- edit, move, replace and delete videos,
- change the poster, the subtitles and the visibility,
- re-import videos in a bulk upload or a Vimeo sync,
- change every setting of the site.
So the videos that you publish never depend on a licence. They keep playing at the same links, with or without Kitset.
A bulk upload or a Vimeo sync in the trial publishes as many new videos as the site has room for. The other items wait for a licence, and a later run publishes them.
Which licence
| Licence | For | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Personal | One person, for personal use, such as family videos, travel or a hobby. | US$19.99 |
| Commercial | One person, for commercial use, on your own sites or on sites that you manage for clients. | US$59.99 |
| Organisation | Everyone who works for one business or organisation, with one key. | US$299.99 |
- A Personal or Commercial licence is for one person, on all of their own Macs and sites. Each person who publishes with Kitset needs their own licence.
- One purchase can include up to ten Personal licences or five Commercial licences, with one key for each.
- From six people, the Organisation licence costs less than Commercial licences.
- Viewers, and the people who watch your videos, need no licence.
See Pricing to buy a licence, and the Terms for the details.
Enter a key
After a purchase, your key shows on the thank-you page, and it comes by email. A key starts with kitset-licence1:.
- Open Kitset ▸ Settings… (⌘,) and click Licence.
- Paste the key into Licence key.
- Click Enter Licence.
Kitset checks the key on your Mac. Then the tab shows who the licence is for, the kind of licence and the updates that it includes.

Kitset also checks with our licence server that the licence is still valid.
Enter the same key on each of your Macs. A collaborator who is not in your organisation needs their own licence. See Collaborators.
Remove Licence… removes the key from this Mac, and the Mac goes back to the trial. You can enter the key again at any time.
Updates
A licence includes every release of its major version, for example every Kitset 1.x release. Kitset finds and installs these releases for you (see Updates). A new major version will be a paid upgrade, at a lower price for owners, and Kitset does not install it as an update. Your site keeps running if you do not upgrade.
